Is not such a focus on a fairly unsophisticated understanding of "race" a bit problematic, if not reactionary? Are you saying that our modern woes stem from "white" rule, a "white" way of living/governing and that the irony is found in a "black" man taking control in a period of perceived crisis (assuming, in a way, that Obama is defined by his blackness)? I dont know, maybe Im just s stickler for semantics, but I find nothing ironic in this situation, and the more I think about it, the facile focus on race makes me a bit uncomfortable...
