  • Glenn Greenwald nails it again Therein lies one of the most enduring attributes of Obama’s legacy: in many crucial areas, he has done more to subvert and weaken the left’s political agenda than a GOP president could have dreamed of achieving. I have entirely given up on the Democratic Party. I hold the Democrats just as responsible for the Iraq war as Bush and the Republicans. In the 2002 vote to authorize the war in Iraq, 29 of 50 Senate Democrats and 81 of 207 House Democrats voted for the authorization. If those 29 Senate Democrats had voted against the bill, it would have died. The Democrats not only helped to authorize the war they have also continued to fund the war for the past five years. This war and its aftereffects have shown me the true interests the Democratic Party represents. We Americans, the people they claim to represent, have been exploited for our patriotism and tax money to fight a deadly, costly and unethical war. We must ask, who does the Democratic Party represent? They represent all the oil, engineering and security companies such as Halliburton, Bechtel and Blackwater, the only entities who have benefited tremendously from the Iraq war.

Members of the Democratic Party also represent their own interests, the Associated Press states that Members of Congress have at least $195 million collectively invested in companies that have done business with the Defense Department. Obviously there is a conflict of interest there. The Democratic Party, just like the Republican Party, has proven itself to be acting in the interests of major American corporations. These major American Corporations love war because war yields huge profits. War is not in the interest of the American people. I cannot vote for any candidate who is a member of the Democratic Party because they have proven themselves to be representing unethical corporate interests. Ralph Nader is the only candidate that will truly represent the interests of the American people. He is the only candidate worthy of my vote. How long will we continue to allow the Democrats to misrepresent us? How long will we continue to allow the Democrats to fail us?
