  • Wake up democrats, President Barack Obama is not a progressive
  • Glenn Greenwald nails it again Therein lies one of the most enduring attributes of Obama’s legacy: in many crucial areas, he has done more to subvert and weaken the left’s political agenda than a GOP president could have dreamed of achieving. Mass Deception

After getting home from a thirteen hour day of work, watching some Tenacious D episodes, and having a little pizza, I decided to see what I could find on You Tube pertaining to Sarah Palin- this mystery hockey mother of five who is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), who hunts moose, and whose husband rides semi professional snow mobile. While I was watching videos of the VP inept woman mentioned in the run-on sentence above, I started bumping into McCain videos. So I watched maybe fifteen twenty clips from interviews and other people’s opinion videos. Most starring the softball inside McCain’s cheek that they frustratingly just won’t give you the right camera angle to check out so you can stop staring. That and FOX news licking his asshole. Even one of Palin saying she did something she didn’t do then saying she never said she’d do it then talking about how she believes dinosaurs roamed the earth 4,000 years ago. Yeah, she said that. Anyway, something dawned on me as I watched these videos tonight:

The contrasts between Conservatism/Republicanism when it came into being, and the way it is today, are the party’s opinions on which issues the Federal government should be abstaining their involvement. These people who claim to be Republicans and claim to be against involvement of the Federal government in citizens personal choices use these ideals incorrectly and deceivingly. They say ‘yes’ to the amendment to ban gay marriage, they say ‘yes’ to illegalizing abortion, they say ‘yes’ to 700 billion dollar bailouts where the government is actually getting more involved in the lives of personal citizens than ever before in history. They, say ‘yes’ to the Patriot Act and Homeland Security which rape us of our personal liberty and right to live. Yet they claim they want to give people the freedom to put aside their own money for retirement by “reforming” their Social Security benefits. They claim they want to allow people to put aside their own money for health care and will not allow bills to pass which involve giving children health care. At the same time having the slogan for American Education saying no child is left behind. They allow the health care system in this country to be owned my major corporations.
As I mentioned above, they say they want less government involvement in citizens lives, but they mean that they want less involvement when it comes to giving the people money when they need it. They are more “involved” in citizens lives than they have ever been. Wiretapping that everyone knows is happening, that everyone knows is illegal, but it persists. Claiming that U.S. citizens born and bred are “domestic terrorists” when they voice their opinions. Arresting people on false charges and imprisoning them indefinitely. Discussing whether or not water boarding is or is not torture.

A true Republican would say ‘no’ to any type of amendment or federal legislation pertaining to anyone’s rights or freedoms. A true Republican would support health care plans, would support social security, and would want to do away with the Federal Reserve system because it is running its citizens into the ground. A true Republican would not allow federal government to meddle in the affairs of free will and choice, because- those were the very ideals several men founded this country upon. One of those men said,”Give me liberty or give me death.” A quote which has been grossly mis and over used. Patrick Henry meant exactly what he said there, that he’d rather die than be enslaved. Did he mean that he’d rather help found a country whose goal would be to do just that, enslave the world? Doubtful.
A small digression and I return to the previous topic when I say a true Republican would be a Constitutionalist.
For example; I would bet when you hear the simple fact that the Republican party became a major party when they opposed the expansion of slavery. Even though most know that he who “freed” the slaves; Abraham Lincoln, was a Republican. It still sounds surprising that Republicans were once against slavery when it is what they are working so hard to attain today. Do some research on Republican presidents of nineteenth century, you will be surprised. Another example, William McKinley, who during his presidency upheld the gold standard. The gold standard was what made the piece of paper you and I call a dollar worth something more than just the word of the U.S. government, more than “legal tender”. Every dollar back then was printed with the words, “_____ dollars in gold coin payed to the bearer on command”. If you look at any U.S. bills now they only say legal tender. They are backed by nothing. That was taken by the people who started the Federal Reserve System, the same people who back the Republican Party to this day. William Howard Taft worked to improve our postal system and in the words of Wikipedia “promoted world peace”. Warren G. Harding signed peace treaties to end World War I. Yes, end, not promote a war. Ulysses S. Grant worked during his presidency to abolish slavery, get rid of the confederacy, and “reconstruct” the constitution. This meaning that he was working to amend the constitution to include equal rights for all people regardless of color. The Reconstruction was happening during his presidency and is another occurrence that modern day Republicans would most likely detest. Freedom for all people? How about we just numb them all with television, listen in on their conversations, read their e-mails, make them scared to communicate with one another, and tell them we’re doing this to keep them free. Then we can use their money to kill innocent people in another country and our weapons manufacturers will get rich. Wait, don’t they pay for our campaigns and aren’t we even partial owners of some of those companies? Ahh, no matter, no one’s paying attention anyway, they’re watching Survivor and American Idol while eating Applebee’s car side to go…one of those restaurants owned by a giant pharmaceutical company. And yeah, we own that too.

I sure came to this conclusion in a round about way, but what I’m saying is the party system has been corrupted. Republicans are not what they claim to be, Democrats are not what they claim to be. That’s a whole other blog, but check things out. History has a lot to say about the present.

I think many conservatives would agree with you that their party is astray from its fundamental principals. I’ve heard from many Republicans that are voting Democrat for their first time this election.

In any case, there needs to be a realignment of priorities in this country. Both parties have ditched their principals of being a government by and for the people to one that is by and for the corporation.
