Manis Friedman, a Chabad-Lubavitch rabbi living the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul, has set off a firestorm with recent comments he made in Moment Magazine. When the Hasidic Rabbi was asked how he thinks Jews should treat their Arab neighbors, he responded that “The only way to fight a moral war is the Jewish way: Destroy their holy sites. Kill men, women and children (and cattle).”
Friedman’s argument, which comes from the Torah, goes as follows, if Israel practiced war this way their would be “no civilian casualties, no children in the line of fire, no false sense of righteousness, in fact, no war.” Because if Israel was willing to kill men, women and children it would scare Palestinians and prevent war.
